This is an easy apple dessert recipe, it bakes happily in your oven, and the results are a not-too-sweet apple treat that really fills you right up.

You can have it for dessert or make up this quick apple dessert for a nice snack during the afternoon or evening...knowing that you're not "going wild" and ruining your efforts to stick to a healthy diet. We can thank many apple recipes for their assistance in keeping us on track...sometimes it's just not easy. I hope you'll try our healthy apple dessert recipe for this fat free apple bake.

Ingredients

4 medium baking apples

1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal, quick-cooking or old fashioned, NOT Instant

1/4 cup light brown sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/3 cup apple juice

What a great resource this is!

Never find yourself without an appropriate card for birthdays and all occasions. I use this American Greetings feature all the time.

Method

  • Adjust your oven so that there is one rack in the middle, and preheat to 350°F.

  • Spray a 9-inch square baking dish with cooking spray.

  • Wash, peel, core and thinly slice your apples. Tip: No need to try slicing whole apple slices...cut the apple in half, place flat side down and slice into your thin slices...much easier.

  • Place the slices evenly over the bottom of your baking dish.

  • Combine, using just a fork, the oatmeal, brown sugar and cinnamon.

  • Sprinkle the oatmeal mix evenly over the slices of apples.

  • Gently pour the apple juice over the oatmeal.

  • Cover the dish and bake for 20 to 30 minutes...until apples are just beginning to soften.

  • Uncover and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until the apples test soft.

I hope you're in the mood to check out another great apple recipe. This one for Apple Pannekoeken will have you making it all the time.
