Easy Apple Crisp Recipe

Warm Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream

Our Easy Apple Crisp is one of those uncomplicated and simple dessert recipes.

Everyone knows its name and it's much the same as ice cream or jello in that there always seems to be "room for for a little dessert" despite the size of the meal you may have just eaten.

Even while baking some was only in my mind, I actually could almost taste it. I didn't have to wait very long though, because I quickly got all the ingredients together and was ready to bake it in a flash.

This is one of the most popular fruit dessert recipes because it can stand perfectly well on its own; but the apples are very compatible with other fruits, such as blueberries, peaches, and pears.

Ingredients

5 apples of your choice, peeled and sliced

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 cup water

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 cup butter, softened but not melted

1 cup sugar

3/4 cup flour

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°F

  • Butter an 8 x 8 x 2 pan

  • Spread your sliced apples evenly in the bottom of the pan.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice and water, and pour over apples.

  • In a separate bowl, mix together butter, sugar and flour until crumbly, and sprinkle that mixture over the apple slices.

  • Bake for 1 hour or until top is golden brown and apples are tender.

If you love this recipe, you must be a fan of "comfort food." May I suggest that you give our Apple Cider Beef Stew a try as your main dish. It's a good one.
