When I think of apple bar and cookie recipes, it brings back pleasant memories. Many times, while our children played together, my friends and I would have a chance to chat for a while. Weren’t we fortunate that our children were all in the same age range?
Sometimes, I would make either oatmeal apple cookies or apple brownies because they're popular with both the "little ones" and their parents. They're a snap to make, and with them, there’s no need to make anything different for the “kids.” Isn’t that always a pleasant change?
I would make a plate for the ladies and another plate for one of my children to offer to their friends. In the interest of peace and harmony among siblings and friends, there were always napkins, plates, forks and glasses of milk to be distributed, too.
Children as well as adults enjoy "entertaining" their friends. For some reason, they actually enjoy feeling like “grownups.”> So, when the ladies were ready to take a breather from their chatting and the children had been playing a while, it was a perfect time to " break out the sweets."
Those were the days, and as much as I don't want to say it, they're beginning to feel like they were "just yesterday." Now, I can think about making some apple raisin cookies for granddaughter, Sarah. I guess I should wait on that until she gets some teeth, though.
