Apple Blossom Times
Your Monthly E-zine from
Apple Recipes With Good Taste
Hello,
As promised, it's August and here I am. Is your summer going by as quickly as mine? If you haven't set aside some "you time" to relax and rejuvenate, please make that a priority for yourself.
You'll never guess where my thoughts took me the other day...to the Holidays. I know it's only August, but what better time than now to begin planning for a less stressful Holiday Season.
I'm going to concentrate on apple cookie recipes this month in the "Just for You" Recipe Booklet. Did you know that most cookies, with the exception of a few fragile ones, have a freezer life of 6 months. So, we can start baking any time now. Won't it be nice to have some little "treasures" tucked away in your freezer come November and December?
Hmmmm Okay...even "the Apple Lady" has to admit that cookie trays are not necessarily ALL apple cookies. I must tell you, though, that I've made quite a concession here because of the Holidays...any other time, it's STRICTLY apples.
Having said that, I would like to offer you in this month's recipe booklet two great apple cookie recipes and two other cookie recipes that are excellent enough to warrant a yearly place on my Holiday Cookie Platters. I hope you will try them all and have as much success as I have with them.
Before long it will be fall apple-picking time when local apples are in abundance. I hope you'll take advantage of this by making many of the apple recipes you will find at our site and in the "Just for You" recipe booklets that accompany our newsletter each month.
Well, I guess we've got our work cut out for us, so let's get going.
With warm wishes,
Penny
Recent Additions to our
“Apple Recipes” website
We've added several new apple recipes to the site since we spoke last. I'll feature a few here and invite you to visit the site to see, and hopefully, try all of them.
As usual, when you click on each link or picture for the recipes, the page will open in a new window. Just "X" out of that page whenever you want to return to the newsletter.
Apple Walnut Bundt Cake
is something like the proverbial pretty, black dress. You can dress it up with cream cheese frosting or you can dress it down with a simple topping of sifted, powdered sugar. Stunning and delicious either way.
Applesauce Fudge Brownie
Mix Recipe
presents us with simple, quick, brownie mix squares made more elegant with raspberry topping and toasted almond slices. Fudgy or cake-like...your choice, and you'll see it's all in the applesauce. Do give these a try...wonderful taste and appearance.
Apple Black Bottom Cupcakes
are quite different from the chocolate-cream cheese cupcakes we made in the past. The combination of brown sugar, nuts, chocolate, and sweetened cream cheese is nothing less than "awesome." Hope you try them.
Apple Glazed Pork Roast
Wouldn't this dish be great as a Sunday dinner? The pork roast is as juicy as can be, and what's better than apples and pork?
August Recipes Just for You
As mentioned above, this month I'm focusing on cookie recipes in our "Just for You" recipe booklet. I hope these will help you along your path to a less stressful Holiday Season.
I find that if I have definite recipes in mind, I read them over carefully and estimate the amount of time each requires. That way, when I know I have a particular block of time, I can choose which recipe requires that amount of time, and leisurely make a batch of those cookies.
Holidays don't need to be "perfect" to be successful. A little advance planning can save you from last-minute scurrying and that "I am just too pooped to participate" feeling.
This year, let's be bright-eyed and rested so we can really enjoy visiting with our loved ones. Isn't that what our Holidays are all about anyway?
To view your recipe booklet you will need an Adobe Reader, but most people have that program. If not, you are welcome to pick up a free copy.
here.

P.S.
Don't forget to plan some "you time" for yourself, and enjoy the rest of your summer.
I hope you'll continue to visit our site for apple recipes of all kinds. It won't be long before "native" apples will arrive, so we want to be ready with "recipes in hand."
I look forward to our September visit.
With warm wishes,
Penny
