Apple Blossom Times

Your Monthly E-zine from Apple Recipes With Good Taste

Hello,

I hope you had a memorable 4th of July. In our area, we've been having difficulty recognizing that it's actually summer. The amount of rain we've had has been astounding, but we were treated to a wonderfully-sunny and warm Holiday. That was enough to have us looking forward to much more summer coming up.

In the warm weather, no-one wants to spend hours and hours in the kitchen, so hopefully you'll be able, between the site and this newsletter, find some easier recipes that your family will enjoy.

With that said, lets get started with the Apple Blossom Times.

Very Best Wishes,

Penny

Recent Additions to our
“Apple Recipes” website

We continue to add new recipes to our site, and hope you've had a chance to visit in the recent past. With vacations and all, sometimes we don't have as much computer time as we'd like, so I'll feature a few recipes that represent some of our newer additions.

As usual, when you click on each link or picture for the recipes, the page will open in a new window. Just "X" out of that page whenever you want to return to the newsletter.

Applesauce Baked Beans
are a great take-along to a potluck supper or summer barbecue. Our recipe is a somewhat shortened version of the traditional baked beans because the beans are actually cooked to softness before they even become the main ingredient in the dish. You'll find this recipe makes plenty for a crowd of hungry guests at an informal buffet.

Apple Whoopie Pies are "the bomb," as they say today. What can I say...you will be asked to bring or serve these luscious "pies" for every occasion. The taste of the cookies is fantastic and the filling, with a thick layer between a couple of cookies, just puts the dessert in the "awesome" category.

Apple Honey Syrup is a different topping to offer when you're serving pancakes, waffles, or French toast. The little bits of apple incorporated into the syrup give an extra "crunch" to your tasty syrup.

Apple Raisin Sauce is also a new addition of our "Syrups and Toppings" category. It is easy to make and goes well with chicken, ham, or pork, and when chilled, can be spread on toast or an English muffin.

Apple Facts

From our friends at
"Apples & More" University of Illinois Extension

  • The crabapple is the only apple native to North America.

  • Apples are now the second most valuable fruit grown in the United States, with oranges coming in first.

  • The apple tree originated in an area between the Caspian and the Black Sea.

July Recipes Just for You

This month I'm offering at least a couple of recipes that are a bit out of the ordinary, to include a super-fast sandwich with none other than apples in it and some butterscotch apples for a simple dessert.

You will need an Adobe Reader to view them, but most people have that program. If not, you are welcome to pick up a free copy. here.

To pick up your copy of this month's recipes "Just for You," please click here.

Note from Penny

Here's hoping you have a wonderful and safe summer. If you can, check our site for the new recipes that will be added frequently.

I'll be back in August with a new issue of "Apple Blossom Times." Until then, please enjoy your newsletter and the attached recipe booklet.

With warm wishes,

Penny
